SeattleFWC26 partnered with Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) to provide training and resources that helped frontline workers recognize signs of labor and sex trafficking and respond safely.
Training the Front Line
Preparing to welcome millions of visitors also meant preparing the people most likely to notice when someone needed help.
SeattleFWC26 partnered with BEST to make its human trafficking prevention training available to organizations across the region. The effort began in June 2025 with more than 100 supervisors and front-of-house leaders working in security, customer service, food service, retail and custodial roles.
From there, 2,500 licenses for BEST Basics were distributed to participating organizations. The 30-minute online course, offered in English and Spanish, taught employees how to recognize indicators of labor and sex trafficking and how to respond safely.
From Awareness to Prevention
Training employees was one part of the work. Organizations also needed to know what to do with that knowledge.
A strategy workshop brought participating organizations together to develop their own prevention and response plans, including internal reporting protocols, staff support strategies and workplace policies. A live Q&A gave trained employees another opportunity to ask questions and reinforce what they had learned.
SeattleFWC26 also connected workplaces with BEST’s Not Alone campaign materials, giving employers free resources to share trafficking warning signs and survivor resources with employees and customers.
Those plans, protocols and trained employees remained in place after the tournament ended.
