Steps from Lumen Field, the Seattle International Media Center gave more than 1,000 journalists, reporters and content creators from around the world a place to work, connect and discover stories from across Seattle and Washington.
A Front-Row Office
When Slalom offered space inside Hawk Tower, Seattle’s International Media Center found a home overlooking the heart of the World Cup.
Hundreds of desks, high-speed Wi-Fi and a wall of screens gave visiting media a refuge to work, while the balcony offered panorama views of the Salish Sea, Mount Rainier, and directly into Lumen Field. Some journalists arrived as early as 2 a.m. for live shots. Others filed stories late into the night.
The experience extended beyond the office. Press conferences introduced journalists to local leaders, athletes and community stories, while excursions took them to the Space Needle, onto the Salish Sea, into the air by seaplane and to a powwow hosted by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
Over three weeks, more than 1,000 media members used the center as a home base for covering the World Cup and the place hosting it.
